Psychological and Educational Evaluations
Psychological and psychoeducational assessment can be very helpful for understanding a child and their needs; informing treatment plans; and for accessing school, medical, and community services. Early detection, accurate assessment, and appropriate treatment and intervention can lead to optimal outcomes for individuals with emotional, behavioral, and social concerns. Dr. Bhatia completes individualized, comprehensive evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults (e.g., college age). Most evaluations include the following components: a diagnostic history; parent interview; child interview and observations; review of educational and medical records (educational, medical); consultation with providers who have worked with your child (e.g., speech therapy, occupational therapy), if applicable; and behavior rating scales. Depending on the reason for testing, evaluations may also include a developmental or cognitive assessment, adaptive behavior assessment, assessment of executive functioning, and assessment of social and emotional skills. Following the feedback meeting, families will receive a detailed written report that can be used as a road map to help children and parents move forward. The written report will include information about your child's strengths and differences, a diagnostic summary, and evidence-based tools and resources for supporting your child. You can share the written report with others (e.g., pediatrician, school, therapist, tutor) to support their understanding of and plan for working with your child.

Child and Adolescent Therapy
Childhood is a time of remarkable growth and development and is often accompanied by various stressors that can impact a child's emotional and psychological health. Navigating issues such as big life changes, anxiety, depression, and stress can be particularly difficult as children face internal pressures and the pressures of school, social relationships, and family dynamics. Therapy helps children and adolescents explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. Dr. Bhatia provides evidence-based therapy that can help children manage immediate struggles while also fostering long-term emotional growth and stability.
Treatment areas include poor coping, anxiety, depression, stress, emotion dysregulation, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), disruptive behaviors, noncompliance, tantrums, toileting problems, grief, sleep, self-harm, social skill deficits, and Functional Neurological Disorder.
